Silenced By Society is a report from a survey of lesbians in Australia in 2025. All 158 participants in the survey are members of The Lesbian Club.
The survey showed very clearly that:
- overall, participants loved being lesbians
- many of the participants were concerned about the erosion of their sex-based rights, especially since the amendments to the SDA in 2013
- the preservation of single-sex spaces is vital to the continuing sense of lesbian community for the participants
- the LGB(TQIA+) umbrella no longer represents the concerns of many TLC
These key findings point to the need for the voice of lesbians, such as those who participated in the survey, to be heard and respected by governments, policy-makers and community groups, when addressing issues that have an impact on the lives of lesbians. We need a seat at the table.
The report is available in two formats – as single A4 pages or as double pages.
